PKD is genetic disease, so more than half of patients have PKD history and they inherit PKD gene from their parents. However, according to statistics, in about 40% of PKD cases, patients have no family history. For these patients, mutation of their own gene is the real cause.

So we should avoid some food for  PKD patients 

Just like other chronic kidney diseases, PKD patients should develop a low-salt, low-protein and rich-vitamin diet. Because much salt may cause or worsen high blood pressure and swelling, while excess protein can increase the burden on kidneys. Therefore, salted products, canned foods, processed foods, French fries, fat meat, etc, should be avoided.
